Job: That's an acronym for Just Over Broke aint it?
Started playing: Started properly around 1979, at the age of 15. This followed the teenage trip of becoming a virtuoso air guitarist. I was particularly adept on tennis raquets although for the heavy stuff, I preferred a cricket bat armed with EMG active pickups!
Main gear: Electrics: 1982 Fender Std Strat (Jenny). I bought this one new and it's my preferred weapon right now, named after my first ever conquest..... Oops, You didn't want to know that though did you... 1985 Yamaha SG2000S. A pretty versatile instrument with the coil tapping facility, this axe has one of the bestÊnecks I've ever played on but it's in dire need of some decent pickups. Those Japanese ones sound far too brittle to my ears. Gibson Les Paul Std. I'm currently using a Marshall Rack system to play through with minimal effects.Ê(The wife says that I can fillÊthe holes in my rack with other goodies when the garage has finished being built) - Boss OD2 Turbo overdrive, with Ibanez stereo digital chorus and delay pedals.
Acoustics: Ovation stereo Classical. Nice instrument when plugged in. played on it's own, it might as well be a washing up basin with an egg cutter stretched over it. Played sitting down, it loves to slide down and do impressions of a lap steel. EKO Rio Grande vi. Pompous name for an el cheapo. It's served me well over the last 20 years but I really need to get something that sounds like a martin and not a strangled housemartin.
Favourite music: Where does one begin... Names that immediately spring to mind are Julian Bream, Gordon Giltrap, Adrian Legg, John Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Alex Lifeson, Gary Moore, Jimmy Page, Joe Pass, Stevie Ray Vaughan, John Williams.......Jeez this could take hours. I've just scratched the surface here.
