Giles Wakely (Ugly Harp Johnson)
Job: Mortgage Broker/Adviser
Started playing: About 22 years ago (had lessons as a kid and wished I had carried on with them) in order to get girls and be Paul Weller. Neither panned out so after a stint with a band in Scotland in my early 20's I didn't pick up the thing for about 10 years. I've played a bit of bass in my time but I like playing the guitar much more.
Main gear: Squier 'fat' telecaster (I love this guitar and it will soon be joined by a Fender tele), Epiphone Les Paul Standard (It's still up for sale if anyone is interested), a Kimbara Japanese Strat copy thing (Which is not as crap as it sounds), Columbus 6 string electro-acoustic and a Fender 12 string acoustic. The plug in ones go through a Korg AX1500G (Yes this is for sale as well) in to a Marshall MGR80CD whcih it has taken me about 2 years to get to grips with properly. Hopefully this will be joined by one of Stewart Ward's custom built amps within the next 12 months.
Favourite music: Paul Weller,Chris Dean/X Moore, Bill Nelson, Steve Cropper, Neil Hannon, Pete Townsend, Pino Palladino, Shez (from 80's Jock funksters - Hey! Elastica), Matt Watson, Mick Jones, Steve Jones, Jake Burns, The good people who performed and produced the Stax/Motown/Philly sounds from '64 to '72.
