Job: Full time Psychology student & part-time barperson
Started playing: Started playing at 14. learned on my dads Hoyer acoustic (practically a museum peice now). My dad got me tabs of the internet and I just taugh myself from those.
Main gear: Well, the Hoyer acoustic doesn't count as mine, so I've got an Affinity series telecaster (first guitar) which has since been modified with new pickups (including a strat pickup in the middle - Nashville tele style) new switches, jack pots etc. Wired it up for 7 way switching. Other than that I got two weird guitars that belong together. I bought a mexican strat which someone had fitted with the electronics of a Clapton sig. Got it for £200 cos some of the body had been sawn off. Then I won a pro-tone squier strat. So I put the neck and electronics of the mexican on the body of the pro tone. (making: ash body, maple fretboard, tbx... TREBLE A-HOY!). With the left over bits I made my own dream guitar. Got three SD Single coil sized humbuckers and wired it up all wierd ways. It's now silver. My favourite, and the only guitar I'll ever need. (pro-tone necks are INCREDIBLE btw)
Favourite music: I guess Kurt Cobain's gotta be in there (I can hear you old folks groaning already!). But if it weren't for Nirvana I might not have ever learned guitar. When I started out all those power chord riffs were my bread and butter and let me learn a lot of tunes quickly and kept my enthusiasm up. Apart from that early stepping stone, my heroes are the likes of Radiohead, Muse, Pixies, Portishead, Dinosaur Jr.
